Child Abuse Frank and Ileana Fuster - 2036 Words

The term child abuse was once as rarely heard as that of pink elephants. However rare the term has once been, it is now a term used consistently throughout the news and various other publications today. Along with the progressing decline in societys morals, has come the rapid increase of crime. One such crime is child abuse. Although child abuse is common, the act is defiling. As a result of the abuse, children who fall victim to this often need psychological treatment and counseling. Often, the child is never the same as he or she once was before. The dictionary defines child abuse as: the physical, or emotional, or sexual mistreatment of children (Dictionary.com). A confession was also used as evidence against Frank Fuster. The confessi on Renos team presented as a main form of evidence was from Ileana Fuster, Franks wife. Janet Renos office offered Ileana a reduced sentence in exchange for her confession that would convict her husband. Ileana did not want to confess at first, but after spending time in solitary confinement as well as multip interview with Behavior Changers, Inc., who used relaxation techniques to help Ileana recover memories, she confessed (Rosenthal). Sometime later, Ileana recanted her confession stating: Judge, I would like you to know that I am pleading guity not because I feel guiltry, but because I think - I think its the best interest ... for my own interest and for the children and for the court and all the people that are working on the case. Analysis Of Olympe De Gouges Declaration Of The Rights...

As I was examining the potential documents to research, Olympe de Gouges’ â€Å"Declaration of the Rights of Woman† was immediately striking to me. Personally, I was familiar with the original document: â€Å"Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen.† Therefore, I was interested in learning more about de Gouges’ version. Also, this particular document was striking because of the time period it was written in. The French Revolution is a fascinating period to study because of the implementation of Enlightenment ideals, and then the collapse of a lot of those ideas with the Jacobins and even later with Napoleon Bonaparte. I was interested in learning more about an influential woman of the French Revolution. In 1791, the â€Å"Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizenâ⠂¬  echoed many of the ideals of the Enlightenment. This progressive document helped further the rights for many and pushed forward the agenda of equal rights; however, many women, including de Gouges, saw this document as portraying the failure of the French Revolution. The next phase, the Republican Revolution, clamped down and cut many of the progressive laws and ideas that were characterized by the Liberal Revolution. Women were banned from the political sphere; many who spoke out against those in charge were executed for their opposition. Included in those who were executed were Olympe de Gouges in 1793. Therefore, the rest of the French Revolution is not necessary to understand her as a historical figure. Nevertheless, it is important to possess a better understanding of Olympe de Gouges to comprehend the â€Å"Declaration of the Rights of Woman.† She was born into a lower middle-class family under the name Marie Gouze in 1748 in southwest France. He had concluded that managers were the people who did not provide any certain time for looking at different tasks properly. Instead, they were the people who went on to utilize their times on shifting their attention on different tasks at the same time (Avolio and Yammarino 2013). They were rather the people who use to dominate the employees and dictate what they should do. This is contradictory to the fact that the leaders of the organizations try to motivate the employees to achieve the organizational objectives by providing them proper guidance (Miner 2015). Mintzberg has also discovered that the leaders should not be any su perhuman beings on whom the employees should rely on blindly. Inspiration is one of the main things that can be attributed to leadership (Goleman, Boyatzis and McKee 2013). However, it is not the only duty of the leaders. Mintzberg has asserted the fact that leadership is no superhuman role to perform. It can be done by everyday people. This is not a difficult job at all that can be performed by a selected few only. Mintzberg thinks that people should stop to wait for a savior who will come and save them from all the problems in the day to day lives. This can also be done by the daily people as well. It is advisable that the people should not depend on the leaders to solve their problems all the times since they are human beings too. They should give relief to the managers by learning to solve their own problems. This would be useful for them to concentrate on their work better. Mintzberg has shown a skeptical attitude to the fact that people admit their children so that they can become exceptional leaders when they grow up. This is not an idea l thing to imagine because the leadership skills are inherent and no matter what school the children are reading in, they would surely develop the leadership abilities (Schoemaker, Krupp and Howland 2013). He thinks the best way to develop leadership is to focus on the talent one has and utilize that talent for good works. This way all the needs and desires can be fulfilled by the particular people who have leadership qualities inside them. According to Mintzberg, the people who want to be good leaders can become so if they focus on their own personal experiences and thus take the help of certain conceptual models of leadership to link their experiences (Batool 2013). In this way, they can surely develop their leadership skills by themselves. The managers have to get some time so that they can get themselves a free time to think about some innovative management ideas from their own personal experiences and apply it in their respective organizations. It is also a fact that thinking o f the leaders to be persons as some superheroes, thus separating the ideas of management leaders from that of the fantasy leaders. The leadership model of Mintzberg will help to derive the idea that leadership is no superhuman skill but a skill that can be earned by spontaneous practice. The great strategy for the leadership by Mintzberg includes the certain plans like the 5 Ps strategy. These 5 Ps mean the Plan, Ploy, Pattern, Position and Perspective (Khatri, Templer and Budhwar 2012). These 5 Ps can be considered as the determiners for the leadership qualities of the managers. He opines that the leaders or the organizational managers should plan something in the industry and should try to implement that within his organization. This is regarded as a crucial part in the management. Next comes Ploy that menas the concerned organizations should aim to bring out the better of the competitors by various means. This would lead them to influence the other organizations and finally get the competitive advantage (Campbell, Coff and Kryscynski 2012). This is where the strategies can become a plan and ploy at the same time. The patterns in an organization have to be understood and the implied things regarding this have to be assessed beforehand. In case of the successful org anizations, the leaders or the managers should look to enhance some strategic patterns by introducing it into the organization (Khatri, Templer and Budhwar 2012). This would perhaps be able to enhance the customer support process of the organization. John Keats And Bob Dylan Why Judgments Matter, gives many examples of why value judgments are important in our lives. I feel that value judgments are as equally important and it should be evident why after briefly explaining Frith's examples and my own as well. In his first example, Mr. Frith gives insight to David Hare's comment, "In the end, Keats was just better than Bob Dylan". The media, without delay, misjudged the true meaning of Hare's statement and transposed it into a debate of value. Although Mr. Frith did not agree with the media's tactics, he did agree with the ?value' debate. Mr. Frith Feels that value judgments"organize social relations" in our life, and he further proves this point using an example from popular music. Mr. Frith focuses on views in music studies. Judgments about musicians are generally made in two ways. Firstly, is the elevation of excitement with ?community'(joining of performers and their audience). Secondly, aesthetic and ethical sub-tones during community. This value placed upon the musicians is very important, this is possibly the deciding factor in the performer's career. If more fans come to a concert, then the performer becomes more popular or valuable. The same goes for the messages sent out by the performer during a performance. A message that is widely accepted and adorned will attract more fans. I find that the critical analysis of value judgments in our lives is of equal importance. I agree with Mr. Frith's findings and find them to be true in other life settings as well. As individuals we use value judgments to prioritize important characteristics in our life, which shape us into cultural individuals. We place a high judgment on the social aspect of our culture. Some examples of this include; friendships, personal appearances, and material items. In friendships, we place value judgment on moral attributes set by others. It is these attributes that we judge to be worthy or unworthy of our friendship. Those of similar moral values tend to find each other in companionship. In personal appearances, we place value on what we represent ourselves to be. Higher income families tend to pay more attention to this value for it is a language in which is unspoken. Financial value of one's appearance and the personal value (self esteem) of one's self tend to run parallel. People place different values on the material items they posses. Two families may bring the same income into a household, and posses some of the similar materials. However, it is the value they place on their material items that make them different. It is this difference that brings out the subjective individuality. "Evaluation is a key cultural activity", according to Frith. Without evaluation we would not be able to set some separation between each other as individuals, eventually becoming numb to culture as we know it. I feel it is imperative that we evaluate every aspect of our lives, in turn ensuring the greatest personal happiness. How does one attain a favorite? Not by suggestion of a higher authority, but by evaluation. Putting value on things and making value judgments is what enables us to label what we like and what makes us happy. Without it, we would not be happy.
